Coaching Mini-Workshop

Come get help with your most pressing storytelling problem—or with an individual story. You can choose a story that shows your best work, or one that you struggle with. You can choose an issue such as audience participation, or how to market your storytelling. As part of a group of three tellers, you’ll benefit not only from being coached, but also from watching the other two tellers make progress, too.

Length of Session: 90 minutes

Fee: $50/person (in addition to conference admission)

Format: Small Group, no audience permitted

Bio: Doug Lipman literally “wrote the book” on coaching storytellers (The Storytelling Coach, August House). He has coached hundreds of storytellers from Boston to Belgium, Kansas to Korea and Nebraska to New Zealand—including internationally known performers, NASA scientists, oil company executives, and ordinary folks with a story to tell.

Sharing the Fire Conference

This year's conference theme is “Voices Across Borders: Creating Connections”. It will feature performances, workshops and panels on ways that storytelling can help us connect across borders.

Featuring: Sue O'Halleran, a life-long advocate for social justice through storytelling. (http://susanohalloran.com/.)

Featuring: a closing concert by Haitian master storyteller Charlot Lucien!

As part of the conference, I will:

  1. Tell a 30-minute story in the opening concert on Friday night;
  2. Offer a coaching mini-workshop for 3 people (advanced sign-up required);
  3. Lead my workshop, "The Connection Lens".
